The scale, which is in the public domain, can be found at the dedicated website of the University of Maryland Department of Sociology (UoM DoS): https://socy.umd.edu/about-us/rosenberg-self-esteem-scale. The UoM DoS sates that the scale scores range from 0-30, with 30 indicating the highest score possible. There are no discrete cut-off points to delineate high and low self-esteem. The UoM DoS recommends that researchers consult the literature relevant to the population they are interested in studying to learn more about the norms of a specific population.

If the scale is used in a therapeutic context then the lack of recognised cut-off scores suggest that absolute (raw) scores should be used with caution; it is likely that changes in scores that reflect meaningful change in subjective self-esteem will be of most therapeutic use and interest.
